We had s bitter/sweet Christmas this year. Bitter because we were so busy cleaning and fixing up our house AND sad about the looming move that would take us away from our home of the past seven years. Sweet because of the spirit we always feel around Christmas time and because we really took the time to appreciate everyone around us. We attended parties and activities with a unique perspective, knowing that we wouldn't always have the chance to see these sweet people and we loved spending every second we could with them. Our kids presents were very simple. We got a lot of board games, art supplies and little action figures and the kids spent the entire Christmas break just playing together. I loved it!
We also got to have a visit from the Toone family and that was a quick fun one. We busted out the gingerbread supplies (something I thought we would end up skipping this year). Dia and I chose to glue them together with hot sugar (against Dan's sage advise) and as usual, the sugar burned and our house had a lovely charred charm to them! It was pretty funny. :)
Our ward held a fun Christmas party and Santa visited. We watched endless Christmas movies while I painted and prepped the house. Really, that was about it! Christmas morning was lovely. Dan and I stayed up too late the night before wrapping presents (something we vow every year to be more prepared for, and somehow we end up in the same situation) and the kids let us sleep in till seven before bursting in with excitement. We did our stocking first. Daddy always brings them up to our bed and we open them there, and then down the stairs we went and made short work of the treasures there!
I really enjoyed Christmas this year. Every year I feel like I understand it better and better. Can't wait till next year!

This is where Ellie fell asleep on Christmas Eve. She barely fit into this position!
Her little feel were perfectly placed on the rails.
The boys were glued to the Santa tracker...I thought this was such a fun idea!

A favorite gift!

These last pics are a few I took just to play with the pretty lights. The cups were given to us from Abuela and are very old. I loved how it turned out!
That's a wrap! Next post...moving pictures!
