We had a really nice fourth this year. I was surprised that my kids wanted to stay home and do our usual traditions more than anything else. I wasn't even aware that we really had any fourth traditions, but the boys requested shooting our own fireworks, sparklers, watermelon, apple crisp and time to run around the yard and play in the water. It was perfect. We also got to have a fun barbeque the night before the fourth with some good friends. We bought a slip n' slide for the occasion that the kids destroyed within five minutes. Apparently thick plastic can't hold it's own against my kids.
It was a great holiday! I think the best part was having so much time with Dan home. He was able to take a few days off to make it a very long week together...in a good way. ;)
Here's the pictures!
I've always loved Logan's eyes!
Our little friend, A.
O was a little nervous about the sparklers at first.
But he got the hang of them after a while!
Linc would light his, then run straight for the water to put it out.
The kids favorite part of the bbq...the neighbor's fireworks.
Ellie's hair for the fourth. I tied some red yarn in with her pig tails...I thought it was kind of fun.
Tired girl.
Or not?
As soon as we made it outside, it started to rain so Dan was shooting off fireworks as fast as he could...it wasn't such a good idea, he almost blew us up with what looked like a WWII mortar round. Luckily his quick moves got the firework in the barrel early enough for the barrel to take most of the explosion. It blew up pretty big though.
Silly Ellie. These faces remind me of mime faces.
Owen dancing in the rain.
Four little ones
More sparkler time!
Loved the smoke in this one!
Eight sparklers at once. :) We really were trying to hurry.
Logan's request.
Day after the fourth and a little bike ride with Owen and Ellie. Owen is always in the lead.
I think Ellie is sick of it!
They had a little race, and even though Ellie had a lead, Owen caught up and won...
She was not happy about it!!
Ah well, maybe next time!

Yay! Happy 4th. Love Ellie's hair and all the pictures are great. What a fun day!
Such fun pictures! I love it when my kids discover traditions I didn't even know we had. It makes me feel like I did something right. Even if it was an accident. :-)
