Definition: Bombardment- A rapid or overwhelming outpouring of many things at once.
Synonyms: blitz, blitzkrieg, cannonade, drumbeat, drumfire, flurry, fusillade, hail, salvo, shower, storm and volley
Now that we have all of that cleared up, I would like to begin by apologizing for the bombardment of pictures you are about to experience! We have had so many trips and travels from February to April this year that I have gotten behind on pretty much everything in my life. This post is my first in a long line of posts to catch myself back up and I am happy to say that we won't be traveling again for a while!
While I write, Owen and Ellie are sitting on the couch, fighting over a book. Ellie has found her voice and I find myself wishing she could lose it again for a day or two...okay, not really, I am very excited and proud of her, but the girl has some strong opinions and she has no trouble voicing them these days. She is lucky her big brothers think she's hilarious and are very patient with her!
But anyway, I digress...the fighting has stopped so I can focus again. These pictures below are from our most recent trip. Our entire family traveled down to New Orleans to meet up with Uncle Abel and Aunt Shauny and all their kids. From New Orleans we stopped at the Bayou in Honey Island Louisiana, and then finished off at Orange Beach in Alabama. The entire trip was quick, but very fun. We spent hours playing in the sand, catching crabs and burying ourselves. The amount of sand we tracked back with us was impressive!
We also got to try a few new foods...the most exciting being...alligator...I wish I were lying, but Dan insisted. It was fried and you'll hate me for saying it, but it really did taste just like chicken!
After the beach we caravaned back to our house and after taking them to our favorite barbecue place (Moe's!) the boys got to do a little fishing. Linc caught his first ever...eh...fish?...you'll have to see the pictures below to verify that one! Anyway, we had such a good time...it was definitely worth the nasty letters our school sent out because the kids had to miss a few days...grrr...but again, I digress. :)
I'm posting backwards for a few days, so more to come of my Boston and Las Vegas trips...oh and the boys first soccer games!! Have a good day everyone!
I loved all the fun backdrops N.O. offered...my kids humored me!
A trip up St. Charles St. on the trolley!
We did a lot of walking!
Well, most of us did anyway!
You take your kids all the way down to New Orleans and what do they want to do?
At the Bayou.
Alligators and ring pops...does it get any better than this?
This guys came right up to the boat...I think he's pretty used to being spear fed like this. He seemed to like the hotdog our tour guide offered him.
They really do have toothy grins...I wouldn't trust this guy at all...but I would eat him for dinner if Dan had his way.
I love the bayou for these next few pictures...yes the alligators are scary, yes the snakes and spiders are huge, and yes fried frog legs are frequent item at a cajun dinner table, but can you blame them all for wanting to live there when you see landscapes like these? Simply beautiful.
Cray fish or Crawdads are very abundant in the area we visited. They had these traps set all over the place. The bait? Once again...hot dogs!
I don't know which worries me more...the fact that this sign is posted here on a gator infested swap land, or that I'm pretty sure they are serious about it. Our guide said that kids swim and play in this area all summer long and he couldn't remember a time in his experience where any of them had been injured by a gator. Hmmm....a little suspicious if you ask me.
The first half of the ride was like this, "Woo-wee!!"
The second half was like this.
The REAL swamp people. The smell of this guy...I'm telling you. Wows-a.
Aww...
He's got my vote!
And now...the beach! You are now about to be bombarded with floaties and fish nets!
Unsure.
A scared little hermit crab.
A cousins shot!
The ride home.
Fishing Pics from Dan's Phone:
Logan's Fish
J's fish
Linc's little guy.
No fish for Owen this time...next time for sure!
