Ellie's Day

I'm going to be caught up today...finally...if my fingers still know how to type that is. I have been wanting to get some of these pics up for a long time, but I've just been so busy. I am trying to keep focused toward the spring when I will graduate and take a year off of school...I think I can, I think I can. Anyway, although I realize these pics are from about a month ago, I had to dedicate a post to Ellie's birthday celebration. We kept it small this year, and her cake turned out, well I guess the words "turned out" aren't exactly accurate. I tried to make her a cute little pink barbie-doll cake, you know, with my pampered chef mixing bowl, (I've seen them a dozen times!) and it really just didn't work at all. I thought the middle of the cake was baked, I even tested it with spaghetti noodle (I needed something longer than a toothpick) and it came out clean, but when I went to turn the cake out onto a plate, the entire center oozed out and it looked like some kind of Halloween center piece, rather than the beautiful princess I had pictured. Boo.
So, being the optimist I like to pretend I am, I scraped out the center, frosted what remained, and plopped a candle on top. Ellie couldn't have been happier! Ah, to try and fail and still delight a two-year-old...life is good!

Her birthday was sweet and fun, and full of baby dolls and fluffy things. Thanks to those of you who dropped gifts by! We have some of the best friends out there! Here are her b-day pics. (and I have had zero time to edit, so you are getting the "real" shots!)
