A Week At Our House

I was thinking this morning about what I should blog about today. I have a few pictures I wanted to get caught up on, but I didn't really know how to post them all and then it occured to me that the entire reason I began blogging in the first place was to record and share what our family is up to so I'll always have it and can look back some day and remember. So I decided that this post will be dedicated to some of those little, everyday things that we do at this point in our family life. There is no real rhyme or reason to these pics because to be honest, no day in this family is ever exactly like another. Yes, the dishes are always there to be done, we have the same chores to do over and over, and the schedule is usually similar, but the actual living and experiencing life (especially with the kids) is always a little new and exciting and special. Hope you like them!

What would a day in our life be if it didn't include something like this? Picture an entire container of Triple Berry V8 juice, a dixie cup and a two and four year old. You get the idea. The bright side of this was that I happened to have borrowed my friend's carpet cleaner this week, so clean up was fast, although it did leave a pink hue in the carpet...good thing I like pink! Linc and O also got to experience what an hour in time out feels like. I needed the time myself to calm down. :)

I love this picture because there is not a day goes by where I don't discover something like this. Whether it is a kitty "Gilbert" in the fridge, and army guy in the ice maker, or a snail shell in a medicine dropper, it always makes me smile.

I love to bake. I don't cook as much, but I love to bake! I love having a "Welcome Home Snack" ready for the boys when Logan gets back from school. He will talk and talk about what happened during his day and I can sit and listen. My mom always did this when I was growing up and I am definitely keeping that tradition alive!

This brownie recipe really is awesome so I thought I'd share it.

Deep Dish Brownies

1/2 c. butter, melted
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs
3/4 c. flour
1/2 c. cocoa
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
nuts (if desired)

Blend melted butter, sugar and vanilla. Add eggs and heat well with spoon. Combine flour, baking powder and salt. Gradually add to egg mixture until well blended. Spread in greased 8 inch square pan. Bake @ 350 for about 40 min. or until brownie begins to pull away from edge of pan. Cool and cut.

We spend a lot of time at this table playing with playdough, or drawing or just being creative!

I spend some of our time trying to get pictures like this (see my photo blog link for others) and the kids are always right there with me. It's opened up a new world for us. I see the world differently and they always get excited when they see something that they think would make a cool picture. It's a fun hobby to share with them.

We spend a lot of time outside too!

Love this boy! Ellie is crying now, so I have to run. (another thing we experience on a daily basis) I hope you all have an exciting week! I know I will. :)

Oh my goodness your carpet!! We finally ripped up the last of our carpet and removed all of my rugs in the living areas because of the spills that were being made! I had this beautiful rug in the living room and Addie spilled a cup of unpasturized milk (super whole milk-very thick) on the rug and I couldn't ever get the soured milk smell or the stain out so it got chunked... sad day.

Fun post!

Oh, the red juice...it hurts me. Once again, the cuteness of your kids probably saved their lives :) At least, that's how it goes in our house. Thanks for posting some "day in the life" pictures. What an awesome tradition to have time with your kids after school and snack and chat. And seriously, with brownies like that, who wouldn't want to sit and chat all day long!?! Super cute pictures, and super cute family!

I LOVE the cat in the refrigerator. You must get a kick out of all the things you find in odd places. :) So cute! Oh and I am so trying that brownie recipe. Time to break out the "brownies from a box" mold for me. :)
