I am the type of person who pictures things. When I want to do something, I think about it, visualize how it is going to turn out and then do it. Of course, my ideas are rarely accurate and sometimes it can be very frustrating to picture something one way and then have it turn out another, but I suppose that it the lesson of life. Learning to go with it and finding happiness no matter where the road takes you. I have a bit of learning to do.
The other night I had dinner ready by four because I really wanted to have a family bike ride at a cool trail I found a few months ago. I've been picturing this outing since I saw the place and envisioned Daddy working with an excited little Logan on his new big bike while I played with O and Linc on theirs, pushing a content little Ellie in the stroller. It didn't quite work out the way I pictured it.
We did get the car packed and were out of the driveway by 4:30, but we had to stop at a gas station to put air in the boys tires, then I realized that I had left Ellie's stroller at home and we had to swing back for it. Logan's bike wouldn't fit on top of the car like I'd thought it would so it was hogging my front sit (and part of Dan's arm space) while I was stuck trying to squeeze my mother-of-four-children hips into the back seat between two boys and a tricycle. My make up was up front (I always wait and put it on in the car....busy, busy) so I gave up on looking cute and tried to be positive.
When we got there Logan did not want to try his bike. He was nervous about falling, Ellie did not want to be in her stroller so I shamefully popped a sucker in her mouth and Linc and O rode their bikes for maybe two minutes before calling it quits.....sigh. Well, we tried for a few minutes. I was grouchy and Dan was trying hard not to be, so finally we bagged the glorious bike idea and headed out to the path on foot. It really did go much more smoothly after that, (minus the bugs and Ellie's screaming) and we had a fun little walk. I attempted a family picture or two and we discovered a cool old chimney. It ended up to be very fun, even if it wasn't how I pictured it! I have to mention too, that even though eleven month babies really shouldn't have suckers, those dum-dums saved the trip. I'll just give her extra fruit and veggies today! :)
He was happy to ride for a little bit!
O just wanted to push his.
Daddy helping Logan during the first five minutes.
After the first five minutes!
The sucker that saved the day.
O had a dryer sheet tucked into the back of his shirt to keep the bugs away. Some good friends of ours back in Utah taught us this trick (miss you guys!) and it really works. O didn't have one new bite yesterday and I had five!
I promise Owen is not adopted! He's really ours. Cutie.

Sounds like you guys had a great time! :) And I don't know what you are talking about with the makeup thing because from what I see, you still look gorgeous! The family shots are great and I love all the other pictures. You catpured everything perfectly. And I love Dan on the bike! :)
LOL!!! funny post. Some activities are rarely how we picture them, sometimes they're better!! Love the pics and love the little pink toes. Was this the Greenway in Madison? When my five kids were lined up Daniel didn't look like the rest of the kids, people asked if he were adopted, but he's not either.
So cute!!! Love the family pictures & pink toes. And there aint no shame in dum dum suckers. We use them regularly around here!
My fav is the pink toes!! So cute! And sharp! I was thining O was another kid at first when I saw him pushing the little bike. How funny! He has the cuteness of your kids... but where did the hair come from???
Yea, you think owen is gonna have a complex about that when he gets a little older?? And I was impressed you even got in the picture, stating you'd given up on cute-ness n'all. That was until I saw how cute you still were!
Good for you for making the most out of the trip you tried so hard for! We've definitely had those nights. It sounds like it turned out great, though. I'm glad I'm not the only mom who takes pics of thier kids crying. I think it's so cute (sometimes!). Great pictures of your fam! Tell Dan hi from us!!
Addie got a tootsie roll pop while I cooked dinner last night because it was the only sucker in the entire house and I needed something to appease my little gal that refused her nap... I bit off half to try to spare her sugar intake... I only wish I would have had a dum dum!!
Cute family pictures at the end! I'm glad you got something out of the trip, even if it wasn't what you envisioned. And I'm all about suckers! Oh yes. If it buys you a moment of peace, it's worth it!
=0) And Clarissa told me that we're both doing pictures on Saturday for the stake event. So fun! I'll look for you there.
Its funny you reassured that Owen was yours, because through the entire post I was thinking "Man, Owen really does not look like the other kids". His blonde hair and fair skin sticks out in the middle of all you dark haired people. He is a cutie though, your family is so adorable.
You always have funny stories!!! Love the pics, especially the family ones.
You have a lovely little family... I was just staring at you realizing I haven't seen you since I met Isaac. Where are you guys? You were so fun in college. I miss old times-it's always good now, but fun to get nostalgic.
