Froggy

Photobucket

Or was it a toad? It looks more like a toad to me. This little guy was a heaven send yesterday. It was one of those afternoons where I was literally bribing the boys with popsicles to keep them outside. The weather was overcast, and since it's been so hot lately, I was really insistent that they stay out for a little while. (I really believe kids should spend as much time outside as they can, that's where they use their imaginations best!) Anyway, after pushing each boy out again and again, and countering their whines with a forced-cheerful, "ten more minutes baby" over and over, I finally finished what I was preparing for dinner, grabbed Ellie and headed out myself to keep the crowd happy. It wasn't going well at first, until this little guy hopped right on my foot. I screamed and jumped, and the rest of the afternoon was complete joy for the boys. This poor, patient, little toad put up with them holding him, loving him, tossing him in the swimming pool, resting him on their heads, and even an Ellie grab. They were in heaven! After an hour or so of play, we let the tired little guy free and went in to take a bath. I tried so hard to get a picture of it jumping, but it is sooooo much harder than it looks! I was down, in the mud, on my hands and knees, (while Dan of course made fun of me!) and even though I didn't get my jump shot, I did get some cool close ups.

Okay, enough talk, here they are!

Doesn't he have such a 'mildly annoyed' look on his face.

Little swimmer.

All this gunk is from the "toad house" the boys made out of a big container. They wanted it to feel just like a swamp.

Yummy.

Linc's turn. He was the bravest one, who put the frog on his head first!

"I want a turn!"

"King of the hill!"

Logan's turn.

We put the toad in the pool and Ellie walked right up to it, picked it up, and threw it out like a piece of garbage. She wanted nothing to do with a frog in the pool!

Photobucket
"What are you guys thinking? Frogs do not belong in my pool!"

If anyone knows how to get your child to stop slurping every type of water they see, please share! Ewwwwwww.

Soo dirty...so happy.

Oh, and to finish...I had a really hard day earlier this week. Nothing went wrong, just a little sad for some reason and my wonderful husband brought flowers home for me to cheer me up. I really do love that man!

This fuzzy one was my favorite.

I'm jealous you found a way to keep your kids outside. The toad pics are way too funny

You are such a great mom. I would have taken one look at the toad, shrieked, and then quickly removed the little devil to another watering hole. You, however, make a fun filled day out of it. You're fabulous.

Any birthday plans yet?

Such cute pictures. The toad reminds me of a time when your bro, Will brought his new pet frog to our house. He and Trav were having a great time with it. Then they decided to give it a ride on our turtles' back. New thing we new Will's frog was our turtles' lunch. Poor lil guy.
