Any of you who have ever been pregnant will understand what I am talking about. (No I'm not pregnant again, but this situation reminded me of the feeling.) There are moments when you are pregnant when you want to laugh and cry at the same time. I remember way back when I was expecting my oldest and Dan told me a joke I apparently found very funny. I sat on the floor laughing and laughing and after a few minutes my emotions got a little confused and I was over-whelmed with sadness. Instantly the laughter turned to sobbing tears; I sat there crying my heart out, leaving my poor husband to wonder whether or not I need psychiatric attention.
Moving ahead to a few weeks ago.....Dan and I like to fight. There's no need to call anyone, it's all in fun. He thinks he's stronger than I am, but I can give him one good punch in the arm and he cries like a baby....ok, maybe not a baby, but at least a two year old. (Here comes the part where I am really mature!) Anyway, we were having one of our little power battles a few weeks ago and I, in my very graceful way, went to give him a swift kick. He, obviously wanted to avoid the shot and as a reflex put his knee up to block it. The result was my shin hitting his knee....hard! Now I have had four children, I know what pain feels like. I can honestly say, labor pain was nothing to this. After the hit, I dropped like a rock onto the kitchen floor. It hurt so bad, but it was so funny. The kids were in the kitchen too, so I was trying not to cry because I didn't want to upset them, but I couldn't help it. The tears would not be held back. And so I lay there, laughing and crying in complete agony. Once again, Dan didn't know what to do other than laugh at me (thanks babe!)
All of this was funny, but as I lay there, overwhelmed with the throbbing pain that was shooting up both my leg and down into my foot, I felt a squishy little body lean over me and a pudgy hand was shoved in front of my face, holding a fruit snack. "Mommy," Owen asked, "will you open this please?" The laughter that followed only made my leg hurt worse! Owen smiled like he had just told some fantastic joke.
I am happy to report now that my leg is fine. It's kind of creepy to tell the truth because it didn't even bruise. More pain than I've ever felt, and no mark to prove it. Ah well, I guess I learned my lesson. Dan...you won this round, and Owen...I know now that if I ever break a bone, or fall down, I'll get no sympathy from you. I guess that's what being a mom is all about huh? Just keep on going.
Now, this has nothing to do with my story, but I promised pictures of Owen's hair cut, and I have a few of Ellie that I thought turned out pretty cute. I'll leave you with them and be gone! Have a great day everyone.
Okay, so to help you all see the difference, here is Owen pre-haircut.
And here he is after!
I think he looks a lot older!
A few of Ellie Belly....
One of my faves.
This is Ellies thinking face.
This is her fly-catching face.
This is her puppy face.
I know I post a lot of pictures like this, and promise that we do do more things than just video games. It think that game time is when I actually have the time to pull my camera out!

your kids are so cute!
You shin story seriously made me LOL. Greg and I "fight" like you do. I know exactly what you mean about the cry/laugh thing. Its so stinking funny and hurts so dang bad sometimes. And Owen. How cute!!!
Just so everyone knows, it wasn't that big of a deal. Becki is just a wuss. She should know by now to pick opponents that are down a little more on her level.
...like small rabbits or stuffed animals or unicorn tears.
Unicorn tears?! Honestly my dear.
Ba ha! I laughed reading your post, but now reading your comments I'm crackin' up! Rabbits and unicorn tears...that's good stuff.
Ok, what is it with you young couples fighting??! Clarissa and Matt used to do it and for a smaller guy he is crazy strong from rock climbing. Here's the moma coming out in me...it's always fun til someone gets hurt!! hee hee. But seriously you could have cracked something Becki and it may not show up as a bruise, so if it doesn't stop hurting soon then you might want to take it in to have it x-rayed! Isn't it amazing how a haircut can make them look so grown-up! Elle was so cute Sunday in RS. I enjoyed watching her play. I have done the laugh/cry thing too, I don't quite understand it, but for some reason we woman do it!
Unicorn tears. Tell Dan I'm impressed by his touch of whimsy. And Owen's haircut is very cute. It does make him look older!
Oh My Gosh! That sounds just like me and John! So funny! And I love the pics, as always. :)
I'm sorry about your little argument! I know what you mean - Kash and I love to argue over who is cooler...and it's fun!
