I did something fun today. I quit cleaning my house, put the kids down for their naps, and played with pictures. I've decided that I don't really know what works for a black and white photo. Sometimes I really like them, and other times I think I may, but I'm not sure. Also, I love the look of antiqued pictures, but I don't know if I'm doing it right. I don't have photoshop right now (it's on my very long wish list) so I'm using a program called Picture It that I like alright. Here are a few of my recent favorites I've played with. You'll see that on the last one I got "a little fancy with the spices," as some would say. I don't know if I like it, but at least I tried! I've listed these in order of color and black and white. :)
Owen's "Choo-Choo train."
Happy Lincoln under my computer desk. He always reads my posts over my shoulder as I type them. He's begging for his own blog now too. SO funny!
This picture is for Miss Jessica. :) She asked how my hair turned out. I'd have to say....red!
I liked this one in b&w a lot.

I loved the last one!! Not to crazy at all!! It also seems to me you like the b/w pics either high contrast or soft low contrast for babies! you have quite and eye! keep it up!
How fun! Good for you for trying something new, I loved it!
Radio Flyer...definitely my favorite!
I love the last one!
Yup, I agree... the more contrast, the better the black and white. You did good! And I like the last one a lot, however, not sure about the tongue. I couldn't stop laughing when I saw that and I don't know why. It just struck me as funny to see that pink sticking out there!
I think the last one is awesome. I love black and white with one thing in color. I wish I had your gift for photography!
I agree also with what has been said - it is fun to play around with pictures. Kash usually does it but every once in a while I go play too and then I create digi layouts and I LOVE THAT!!!
Oooo! I love the hair! Cute cute! That's a really nice length on you. And I love the pictures of Owen with the wagon. Really cute.
I'm also lovin' the last one.
And also?...how stinkin' cute are you!?! I love the red hair! It's so shiny and luscious...which I cannot spell...but you get the idea;)
Hey, love all the pictures. I have photoshop and picture It, but my FAVORITE for just touching up photos changing colors, edging them, and cropping is Picasa 3. It also has a Blog It feature to blog straight from the program. And you can make Collages! Just google it. It's acually a Google program and a free download. It's so simple to use and to organize photos and it automatically scans your computer and copies all your pics into it. That way you always have the original where it was originally saved. Play Play Play.
They look great Becki. (I love the new hair too!)
I know you can download Photoshop for free for 30 days through Adobe. You might not want to do that if your not ready to buy it yet though...you'll be hooked. I also agree with the previous comments. Adding contrast to your black and whites will make them look much better. It makes your whites whiter...blacks blacker. Gives you more color range from black to white if that makes sense? Sorry for the novel. Email me brit.barker@gmail.com I'll give you the website I got my photoshop off of, it was half the price.
I love that picture of you! You really are so beautiful and photogenic!! Cute pictures of the kids and I love the video:)
